Anna C. Blundy (Mortimer)

Therapist, Journalist and Co-founder of the Mind Field - Sessions offered in English, Italian and Russian

I’m a former journalist, once Moscow correspondent for The Times (London). I grew up with a war correspondent father, who was killed in El Salvador in 1989. I was 19 at the time and thought he was tough, glamorous, hard-bitten and generally pretty cool. I only realized later that he was chronically anxious, alcohol dependent and probably quite traumatized by the horrors he’d experienced on the job. He was, as an obituary writer put it, “penitentially lonely” with a string of catastrophic relationships trailing in his wake. In my own analysis, I experienced and processed the damage passed on to me from my father’s disturbance. In thinking and reading around psychoanalysis and seeing training patients, I understood how these lives on the very edge of human experience can seriously impact on mental health. There are no prizes for toughing it out alone, for not getting help. This is what I have learnt.

Anna Sircova

Therapist - Sessions offered in English and Russian

I am a clinical psychologist (PhD) and I practice Existential Analysis and Logotherapy. I specialize in life transitions, cross-cultural adaptation, endings, psychology of time, and existential questions (such as loneliness, grief, death and dying, loss of meaning and finding purpose). My work concentrates on saying “yes” to life, on finding your personal time, core essence, meaning and fulfillment. Denmark is the sixth country that became my home (Latvia - USA - Russia - Spain - Sweden - Denmark). When Latvia became independent in 1991 I became a foreigner in my home country, thus began my journey through questions of belonging and what is ‘home’, various levels of arrivals and departures, and cultural transitions. For over 20 years now I’m curious about the concept of time, and I do research and creative projects about it. I am currently part of the Therapists for Ukraine initiative and Psychologists Across Borders. I offer short- or long-term therapy sessions in English and Russian.

Ajay Khandelwal

I am based in the UK and offer therapy in English and Hindi/ Urdu.

Alessandra Mongardi

Therapist - Sessions offered in English, Italian and Spanish

I volunteered in developing countries while seeking my university degree as a clinical psychologist. Afterwards, I undertook a MA in Education and International Development, with the view to work in the field as a mental health expert. Over the years, I worked with small Italian NGOs, participating in projects in Latin America, Europe and North Africa. I trained in Intercultural Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the UK, registering with UKCP-CPJA. I continue to work–now as a psychotherapist–with the people I once worked with in the field, seeing patients at the Refugee Therapy Centre and women affected by gender-based violence at Women and Girls Network, as well as private practice via video. I offer short- or long-term therapy sessions in English, Italian and Spanish.

Alex Semenchenko

Therapist - Sessions offered in English, Ukrainian and Russian

I provide a warm and nonjudgmental space to support clients to explore and make sense of themselves, their difficulties and life challenges and find new ways of coping. I have worked with people from different life paths to assist them to make the necessary life and lifestyle changes that will enable them to lead more fulfilling and meaningful lives. I have a passion for working with children and adults and helping them to adjust to change in their life and move away from feeling stuck. I enjoy helping individuals to reconnect to their purpose, find new ways of coping and rebuild their confidence and self-esteem by dealing with irrational beliefs and learn how to manage emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in a healthier, more realistic way. It helps to work through their past, present, or future issues from a solution-oriented framework. I use practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT). I have also worked in a private school for 5 years. During this experience working with school aged children I provided a safe place for kids to make sense of themselves, their experiences and the world around them. I use a compassionate and caring approach tailored to each child’s needs and interests and use a combination of play therapy, skills training and supportive counselling to help.

Anastasia Patova

Therapist - Sessions offered in English, Ukrainian and Russian

I was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, and moved to Kiev more than 10 years ago. My way in psychology started after my daughter's birth. She was very naughty and sensitive simultaneously. In order to understand her I started my studies at Neufeld Institute (Canada) in attachment-based approach as a children and teens psychologist. Now she is 8 and my passion for psychotherapy grew up together with her.  I continued my training in psychoanalysis and post-jungian direction as an adult fairy-tale therapist, symboldrama and initiation therapist. My own early trauma experience with a toxic granny and divorce of my parents at age 5, as well as clients' requests, pushed me to start studying trauma therapy in Somatic Experience method and EMDR oriented techniques.

Now l deeply understand that psychology and therapy is the job of my life.

Dom Graham

Therapist and Former Journalist - Sessions offered in English

After more than 20 years in journalism and voluntary sector leadership, I understand the pressure of high-responsibility, always-on professional cultures. Many of the people I work with look successful from the  outside but feel exhausted, stuck or overwhelmed beneath the surface.

As  a relational, humanistic therapist, I offer a thoughtful, calm space to  slow down, make sense of what’s really going on, and find a more  sustainable way forward. My work often focuses on burnout, grief, life transitions and the hidden pressures carried by people in demanding roles. I also have a particular interest in supporting men who feel  burdened by expectations to cope, provide or fix everything alone.

Emma Pearson

Therapist and Former Journalist - Sessions offered in English

My first career was as a UK news journalist but I left this to follow my development-worker husband to live in the Democratic Republic of Congo with our baby daughter. We spent nearly a decade in different countries in Africa. These were both wonderful and challenging times, and finding a therapist with whom I could have regular email and later video therapy really helped me to cope and make sense. When I returned from the field, I trained at the Metanoia Institute in West London as a psychotherapist.  I have an MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I now run my own private practice, working with individual adults and couples in person in London and in my home town, as well as online. My interest is in relationships - how we understand ourselves, how we relate to others, and how we see ourselves in the wider world. I am a Registered Member of the UKCP.

Ginny Hill

Therapist - Sessions offered in English

I’m a psychodynamic psychotherapist living and working in London. I’m interested in the way that our earliest relationships can influence the experiences we seek out in the rest of our lives. Before I trained as a psychotherapist, I worked for many years in journalism and foreign policy. I learned that real events in the world around us can trigger powerful, parallel forces in our internal worlds, and I understand how collective shocks, such as conflict and climate change, can disturb our emotional stability. I am able to work with complex trauma, secondary trauma and intergenerational trauma. I work in English.

Helen Arthy

Therapist - Sessions offered in English

I lived, worked and raised my children in Africa and Asia over a period of 20 years. I started out in wildlife conservation then moved over to humanitarian work. Witnessing conflicts in Liberia and Sierra Leone made me aware of the (at that point) total lack of psychological support that was available to both the population and those expats that were there to help. I also experienced the frequent transitions and changes that are part and parcel of the expat life style. On returning to the UK, another major challenge, I retrained as an integrative humanistic counselor in order to support those that continue to work in “the field”.

Irina Aron

Therapist and Intercultural Communication Consultant - Sessions offered in English, Russian and Bulgarian

I began my professional career in linguistics and intercultural communication. My interest in how languages and cultures shape our personality and impact our relationships led me to train as a psychodynamic psychotherapist at the world renowned Tavistock Centre in London. It is not accidental that most of the psychotherapy clients I work with are internationally mobile professional people who live and work between different countries and cultures – I am one of them. I know from my personal and professional experience how profound are the challenges of intense travelling for the stability of one’s identity and relationships. I live and work in three languages – English, Russian and Bulgarian.

John Fiawoo

Therapist - Sessions offered in English, French and Italian

I am a clinical psychologist, ethnoclinician, clinical supervisor, and trainer based in Verona, Italy.  My expertise is in  migration, transcultural mental health, and psychosocial support. I  work with children, adolescents, and adults from diverse backgrounds,  including Italians, migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and  unaccompanied minors. I am committed to accompanying individuals through  moments of transition, vulnerability, and emotional suffering, helping  them to move beyond feelings of being stuck to reconnect with their own  inner resources, strengths, and sense of meaning. I support people in  making sense of painful or disorienting experiences, rebuilding  confidence and self-esteem, and finding more sustainable ways of coping  with distress. I pay close attention to the emotional, relational,  cultural, and existential dimensions of suffering, and I aim to help  each person develop a healthier and more compassionate relationship with  their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.

Judith Gutierrez

Therapist - Sessions offered in English, Spanish and Italian

For  more than ten years, I have had the privilege of being an aid worker  around the world, carrying out missions in emergency contexts and  developing countries. Currently, I am based in Panama, though I am  originally from Mexico.

Throughout  these years, I have learnt that this kind of life is incredibly  rewarding. However, I have also experienced first hand how constant  exposure to significant stressors and regular relocations can take a  toll on our own well-being.

I  have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's in Clinical  Psychology, during which I completed a thesis on Mental Health and  Resilience in Humanitarian Aid Workers. I also hold a CPT-I level Trauma  Informed Clinical Professional Certification from the International  Association of PsychoTraumatology.

I  use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat symptoms of burnout,  depression, anxiety, among others. Also, I work with methods focused on  addressing Trauma when needed, including strategies to regulate and  manage intense emotions.

Kristina Hemon

Therapist - Sessions offered in English and Serbo-Croat

Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in post-war reconstruction in the Balkans and international development for over a decade. Being from the Balkans myself, I have a personal experience of the war and its effects on the region, its peoples and individuals and I have experienced and seen the psychological toll that post-conflict aid work has on people. I’ve lived in three different countries and am familiar with the challenges of moving, settling in and living in different places and have worked with migrants and refugees in London, UK for several years. I trained with the Westminster Pastoral Foundation and am a BPC registered psychotherapist. I offer therapy in English and Serbo-Croat language.

Louise Hayman

Psychoanalyst and Psychotherapist - Sessions offered in English

Before training as a psychoanalyst, I worked in media companies for many years alongside journalists going into and coming back from the field. Whether a war zone, the long and dangerous waits at borders or on investigations ranging across frontiers, I was able to be an observer and friendly ear to people undergoing the variety of traumas and difficulties that time in the field can involve. More recently I spent time volunteering in refugee camps in Athens, working with adults and children, as well as in the Calais jungle. I have nine years of experience working as a therapist in the NHS and in a non-profit therapy service, as well as with patients in private practice. I am an IPA registered psychoanalyst and regulated by the BPC.

Meriem Gawi

Therapist - Sessions offered in English, French and Arabic

I was born in Casablanca, Morocco and now live in London where I studied and qualified as a Children and Families social worker. For over 12 years, I worked at Al-Aman, a domestic violence service support for survivors from the Arab community. I work with many refugees who are settled in the UK and have co-produced a toolkit to support other professionals working with the Arab community, especially on matters of harmful practices, divorce and using religion to control women. I am a registered member of the BACP and currently run my own private practice in North London where I counsel adults and children on both short- and long-term basis in English, French and Arabic languages.
