Muammar Nakhla

Therapist - Sessions offered in English and Arabic

I grew up in Syria and studied psychology in the University of Damascus. For 5 years I was a therapist in the Syrian Association of Autism and helped autistic children with behavior modification therapy. During the revolution in Syria I documented human rights violations and reported them to the media. In 2014 I left Syria and started to work with UOSSM to offer mental support to traumatized children and youth in Turkey. One year later I came to Germany where I continued my work with young traumatized refugees. Now I’m working as freelance Psychologist for Zentrum Überleben and the state of Berlin. I offer therapy sessions in Arabic and English.

Noëmie Maclet

Therapist - Sessions offered in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese

Noëmie is  an EMDR therapist with over 10 years of experience in the humanitarian  sector as a protection and mental health professional. Having worked in  conflict, displacement, and emergency settings, she has a deep  understanding of the specific challenges humanitarian professionals may  face, including chronic stress, trauma exposure, burnout, and major life  transitions.

She  offers an integrative, trauma-informed and feminist approach, with  particular attention to each person’s individual and cultural context.  She works with humanitarian professionals, their loved ones, and others  seeking support around trauma, stress, anxiety, or difficult life  transitions.

Olga Popova

Therapist - Sessions offered in German and Russian

In the 90s, before training as a trauma therapist, I worked in Moscow with children with special needs and their parents as a developmental psychologist. I learned what it means to live with trauma and that if not addressed with the due attention it only gets harder with time. Through my personal and professional experience in different countries I also learned that all the difficulties of being migrants, refugees, working and raising children between countries, languages and cultures can trigger and disturb our internal world and emotional stability. My goal is helping people to find a way to build their personal resilience. Based in Switzerland, I work at the institute MMI in Zürich, which provides psychological support and therapy to vulnerable people with young children and refugees that come here from all over the world. I offer sessions in German and Russian.

Reem Hagona

Therapist and Former Humanitarian - Sessions offered in English and Arabic

I lived and grew up in 6 different countries in the Middle East and North America. After studying Human Services and Psychology in New York, I moved to Sudan where I worked with two international aid organisations. Initially, I facilitated psychosocial development workshops with children and women in IDP camps and later on, I managed a nationwide youth peacebuilding initiative. After relocating to the UK in 2006, I completed an MA in Psychoanalysis and a second MA in Intercultural Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy with the Refugee Therapy Centre and University of East London. Currently, I am registered with UKCP-CPJA and offer long-term and short-term therapy sessions in English and Arabic.

Romeo-Aurelian Mocanescu

Therapist - Sessions offered in English and Romanian

I am a psychodynamic and analytical psychotherapist, informed by classical Jungian concepts as well as by developmental approaches. I  pay particular attention to dreams, images, symbols and metaphors as  well as to the events of everyday life and their meaning and, where called for, I work creatively with guided visualisations and even drawings. My aim is to provide a safe enough environment where the as yet ‘unspoken’ may be heard, a place where a new relationship may be established with the inner and outer world and their potential for future development.

Roshmi Lovatt

Psychotherapist - Sessions offered in Bengali and English

Roshmi is an Integrative Arts Psychotherapist and founder/clinical director of www.bodhispace.co.uk offering a broad range of psychological therapies. Before retraining, she worked for the BBC World Service in the South Asia Section.  Her experiences there offered insight into the lives of journalists and stringers across the world, and the impact of their work on their mental health, families and relationships. As a psychotherapist, Roshmi helps professionals  work sustainably in jobs which induce burn out, compassion fatigue and  vicarious trauma, often due to social injustice. She also works with refugees and asylum seekers. She is a tutor, trainer and consultant specializing in the use of creative and embodied methods to explore themes like race, diversity, difference, intersectionality and power.

Sally Warren

Therapist and Former Journalist - Sessions offered in English

In my previous career I worked as a national newspaper journalist. I covered many natural disasters, including the Indian Ocean tsunami, and many man-made ones, including the Kosovan War. I understand the challenges facing people who work as witnesses in the field. After getting married, having a baby and taking on two stepchildren, I retrained as a psychotherapist. I now work with adults intensively up to three times a week but also on a less frequent basis. I trained for five years at the British Psychotherapy Foundation, one of the UK’s pre-eminent training institutions, and worked in the psychiatric outpatient unit of the Gordon Hospital in south London for five years.

Shahrzad Pourabdollah

Therapist - Sessions offered in Persian, French and English

I began my career working with NGOs in Belgium, supporting vulnerable women affected by violence and human trafficking. After moving to the UK, I volunteered as a therapist for refugees, gaining extensive experience with political refugees, journalists, and individuals who had suffered imprisonment. I later trained in psychosexual therapy in the  UK, integrating humanistic, relational, and psychodynamic approaches. For over a decade, I have been registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and affiliated with European  professional bodies. I have also shared my expertise on mental health as  a regular television guest for more than ten years, and bring over a decade of experience providing therapy through online sessions. I now  run my full-time private practice as a psychotherapist, psychosexual,  and relationship therapist, offering sessions in Persian, English and French.

Shereen El Gazzar

Therapist and Former Journalist - Sessions offered in English and Arabic

Before becoming a therapist, I was a political and financial journalist. I wrote for the Wall Street Journal in the Middle East. I also covered the Arab Spring and the war in Iraq. I lived and worked in Egypt, the UAE, the US, Thailand, Portugal and Norway. I decided to become a psychotherapist when I realized that the idea of a “normal” human being is far more expansive than the impression of normality I received from the media and society at large. I wanted to help others to be mindful of the subconscious influences on their perspectives, behaviors, and inner narratives. I did my masters in Couple and Family Therapy at Northwestern University. Currently, I work with individuals and couples. My clinical interests include: intercultural relationships, anxiety, depression, ADHD, women issues, life transitions, separation and trauma. I am based in Europe, I offer therapy sessions in Arabic and English.

Tetiana Zhuravlova

Therapist - Sessions offered in Ukrainian and Russian

I am a Ukrainian psychologist/psychotherapist with 23 years of experience so far. My professional style is based on eclecticism, selecting an entirely individual approach to each client. I conduct one-to-one consultations in Ukrainian and Russian as well as seminars, trainings, and psychotherapeutic groups. My main areas of focus are losses, psychosomatics, relationships, self-esteem and self-realization. I also hold MBA classes in Psychology in Business, Effective Business Communication, Resistance to Manipulation and other similar themes. I am currently based in Turkey.
